Poem: messy cupboards

It’s funny what you find when you look through a messy cupboard. You were convinced you knew everything that was in there. That it was Organised Chaos and not just plain old Chaos. Then you finally open it up and you find lids to containers you threw away a long time ago. You find containers with no lid, maybe you threw it out? You find small plastic things with no idea what they were once a part of. Then you wonder just how much of your mind is like this. Pieces of disjointed feelings and thoughts you forgot you once had, but there they are adding to the bulk of you. It isn’t until digging in that you realise just how much of it is history you really don’t need. Containers without lids and lids with no containers. Small unformed things hiding in corners that you don’t even recognise. It’s time to clean up.
